I really cannot see the relevance to ending the Dreamliner. Sorry, I might be missing something.

Sneakers55: U need to check into the level of big oil profits. I recognize that the free market demands profit, but their profit amount is obscene, to me.

by Sneakers55  Today

As to your comment "Obviously, they cut corners for short-term profit" there was no ARINC standard for the use of lithium-ion batteries in commercial aircraft in 2007, when the 787 design was frozen. That is not the case now.

>I don't trust big oil or any other big corporation to "do the right thing".< They're in business to make money, not lose it. Or would you prefer pulling in to your local C-store and finding they are out of gas? And will be forever?

I was simply referring to the battery. Obviously, they cut corners for short term profit.

>That's Boeing and the American need for short-term profit.< Boeing? Short-term profit? Give me a break. About every decade, they come up with a new commercial airliner and they bet the net worth of the company on it. They're not going to make money on the Dreamliner for several years. They ended out acquiring at least one of their suppliers in the process, and it's the first commercial airplane (other than the ones they inherited from McDonnell Douglas, which are no longer in production) where they are doing final assembly other than in the Puget Sound area. Big investment, big risk, long-term profits!
