States with cheapest gas and most volatile prices: are you in a state with either?

GasBuddy Blog -- There are always winners and losers when it comes to gasoline prices. GasBuddy analyzed its gasoline price data from 2011 to mid-2012 to find the winners and losers, as well as where motorists see the biggest average price changes.

It was no mystery when South Carolina popped up as having the lowest average gasoline price over the last year and a half. Fifty eight cents separated South Carolina from the #1 loser (in the lower 48) when it came to average daily gasoline prices.

The winners list, lowest average price between 1/1/11 and 7/17/12:
1.) South Carolina, $3.31/gal (combined tax 35.2c/gal)
2.) Oklahoma, $3.35/gal (combined tax 35.4c/gal)
3.) Wyoming, $3.36/gal (combined tax 32.4c/gal)
4.) Mississippi...

They fill up their trunks with jerry cans and gas up in Washington and Oregon while getting grociers, all within their duty free exemption. Everyone including the state is make a killing in this regard. When prices go up the state get more of a profit from the taxes their collecting. Unfortunately, it's the locals that suffer but at the same time, it's the Canadians that actually keep the locals employed.

Don't go for the MIL. I always carry enough gas to avoid CT. Worst State for gas on the East Coast. Glad to have my opinion confirmed

This one is relevant to gas prices but is old news. The article prior to this one is about bridge building in Tennessee. If you look at the "submitted news" section of this site, there are much better articles that should make their way to the top five articles listed on this board.
