Oppose. The government just warps the market at taxpayers' expense. Let the energy suppliers compete on a level playing field.

Favor government spending on all alternative energy research. We have to get away from Fossil fuels as soon as practical.

ə as has been stated by many others, not to favor this idea would be a huge mistake. we _must_ get off the oil addiction quickly, or we will be faced with insurmountable difficulties if the "dealers" (opec) decide not to sell any more to us. ə

Favor. There should be government support on research until a source is ready to be deployed. Then it's the private sector's turn.

Favor, but you've got to understand that wind and solar will have no direct impact on the costs of driving a car. With luck they'll lower the price of electricity, which can lead to lower costs for electric cars, hybrids, and hydrogen production.

Yes, definitely.
If they do not, the negative impact on the economy will be even worse than any money they could dedicate to finding a solution before social turmoil and unrest become the everyday event.
Hit this thing head on. Get the oil barons out of political office first though, or else the funding will just lead to "failures".

All those who complain about the oil companies get rich, yet oppose an increased tax, you are acting irrationally. Would you not rather see us collectively benefit from high prices rather than the oil supply chain. As we approach peak oil, prices will go higher to balance supply and demand. Without higher prices, demand will not be reduced fast enough. We could bring prices down if we permanently bought less!
There is occasional wastage of money, but who is worse: government bureaucrats or private enterprise - how fast Enron, Qwest, Level 3 etc.etc. are conveniently forgotten by those opposing the higher tax!
Sorry wrong thread! see taxes!

Oppose. There is a reason the DOD pays $100 for a hammer and %600 for a toilet seat. Bureaucrats spend other people's money.
